Expert (m/f/d) for Urban Decarbonisation Strategies & Climate Action Plans

- Center for Energy -

  • You will be part of a multidisciplinary team focusing on the development of new approaches and solutions for zero-carbon cities and neighbourhoods around the world.
  • You will lead large and mid-sized projects developing urban strategies and action plans paving the way towards climate-neutrality.
  • Specifically, you will involve in national and European projects, like NetZeroCities, focusing on zero carbon development and the necessary strategic as well as technical steps.
  • Your understanding of the political, social, and economic context in cities enables you to carry out holistic analysis and come up with fitting process designs.
  • In cooperation with the European commission and our urban planning, energy, and mobility experts you craft strategic responses tailored to the local context and identify suitable projects for implementation understanding the underlying financing mechanism.
  • With your knowledge you successfully acquire European research as well as consultancy projects dedicated to climate-neutral and smart city development.
  • Your expertise leads cities into informed processes towards climate-neutrality, equips them with the right approaches, action plans and technical understanding.   
  • You will become a known player in the European and Austrian climate-neutrality and smart city community.
  • You publish in peer-reviewed journals that highlight findings from the research project and present research findings at international conferences.
Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:
  • MSc. in urbanism, urban/spatial planning, smart city related studies or specialisations
  • Proven work experience (appr. 3 years) in sustainable and strategic urban development
  • Expertise in climate action planning or urban decarbonization strategies is required
  • Competence in quantitative and qualitative methods for urban strategy making
  • Deep cross-sectoral understanding of urban development and it’s various domains 
  • Experience in planning and conducting physical or virtual workshops
  • Ability to initiate and conduct research and consulting projects
  • Interested in writing scientific publications
  • Very good communication skills in English and good command of German

What to expect:
The minimum gross annual salary according to the collective agreement is EUR 49.532,--. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience. In addition, we offer company benefits, flexible working conditions, individual training and career opportunities.
