Our Center for Digital Safety & Security is looking for new Ingenious Partner for our location in Vienna. Our experts from the Center for Digital Safety & Security are developing state-of-the-art information and communication technologies to ensure that our systems are highly secure and reliable in the context of comprehensive digitalisation and global networking – Hereby we focus on a variety of key technologies like Distributed IT Systems, Internet of Things, IoT, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain Technologies, Quantum & Photonic Technologies, Wireless Systems (6G) and Digital solutions for crisis & disaster management.

Scientist (m/f/d) in Cryptography (Limited to two years)
CENTER FOR DIGITAL SAFETY & SECURITY
- You will conduct research in the design and analysis of cryptographic protocols, preferably with a focus on distributed primitives (e.g., MPC, threshold cryptography, …), and develop prototypes of the designed primitives and systems.
- You will engage in research collaborations and contributing to the group’s R&D project portfolio.
- You will publish your scientific outcomes in top-tier journals and conferences.
- Finally, you will contribute to the supervision of interns and students related to your research topics.
- You will be able to interact with research and industrial partners on national and international levels on exciting topics, allowing you to continuously enhance your own knowledge and skills.
- Thanks to your motivation, innovative solutions, and expertise in this specific field, you will actively shape the field of safe autonomy.
- You will have the opportunity to present your research at international research conferences.
Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:
- PhD degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field, with a specialization on cryptology
- Profound knowledge in one or more of the following areas: secure multi-party computation (MPC), fully homomorphic encryption (FHE), threshold cryptography, distributed algorithms, privacy-preserving machine learning, verifiable computation
- Strong track record with publications at competitive academic conferences or journals
- Good knowledge of a programming language (e.g., C/C++, Rust, Java, Python) and software development is a plus
- Very good written and oral English skills; knowledge of German is not a requirement but willingness to learn German is expected
What to expect:
The minimum gross annual salary for a full-time position (38,5 hours / week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 59.164,--. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
