Our Center for Digital Safety & Security is looking for new Ingenious Partners for our location in Vienna. In the Center for Digital Safety & Security, over 200 experts work on the latest information and communication technologies to ensure that our systems are highly secure and reliable in the context of comprehensive digitalization and global networking.

Our Cooperative Digital Technologies team develops data-based ICT solutions for various application scenarios. Together with emergency organizations, authorities, and industry partners, we design and develop solutions to enhance resilience and public safety. Our main focus is on the integration and utilization of data from sensors to operational and strategic mission management.

Solution Architect (m/f/d) for Emergency and Crisis Management

CENTER FOR DIGITAL SAFETY & SECURITY

  • You bring your ideas and experience in emergency and crisis management to the design of new solutions for protecting society and increasing resilience.
  • As part of our interdisciplinary team, you will conceptualise and develop digital solutions to make the exchange of information between different emergency organisations and time-critical decision-making in emergency, reliable and efficient during crisis and disaster situations.
  • As a result, your projects have a direct practical relevance, and you have the opportunity to increase the safety of the population in crisis and disaster scenarios through the use of innovative technical solutions.
  • You develop these solutions in close collaboration with stakeholders, which include authorities and organisations responsible for security tasks.
  • You analyse and understand their specific requirements and conditions, creating digital processes and decision aids tailored to their needs.
  • You will develop technical components for interoperable, trustworthy data exchange between stakeholders based on open source components.
  • You will apply your knowledge of distributed architectures, interoperability, SSI (Self-Sovereign Identity), and data management to shape forward-looking technologies.
  • You will independently delve into new subject areas and be able to combine knowledge from technology and emergency and crisis management.
  • If interested, we also offer you the opportunity to give lectures and publish professional articles.
Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:
  • You hold a degree (at least MSc.) in computer science, crisis management, natural hazard management, environmental hazard research, or a similar field (at least MSc.)
  • Ideally, you have previous experience in the fields of hazard, crisis, and process management (e.g., through your volunteer activities)
  • Excellent knowledge of at least one high-level programming language (preferably Java or Python)
  • Excellent knowledge of modern software development processes and technical team management, especially in agile settings
  • Experience with software engineering tools (version control with Git, virtualisation with Docker, testing)
  • Basic knowledge of web technologies (HTTP, web servers, data exchange protocols), security (authentication/authorisation, encryption), and software architectures
  • Advantageous: knowledge of modern software frameworks (e.g., Java - Gradle, Spring, Python - Flask, TypeScript - React, Angular, node.js, nest.js, docker-compose, Gitlab CI)
  • Desirable: knowledge in the areas of data spaces, decentralised & self-sovereign identities (SSI), or semantic web technologies
  • Willingness to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams
  • Enjoyment of communication and ongoing exchange with colleagues and project partners
  • Very good language skills in German and/or English, both written and spoken


What to expect:
The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38,5 h / week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 57.890 The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
