Our Center for Digital Safety & Security located in Vienna invites applications for an internship. Our experts from the Center for Digital Safety & Security are developing state-of-the-art information and communication technologies to ensure that our systems are highly secure and reliable in the context of comprehensive digitalisation and global networking – Hereby we focus on a variety of key technologies like Distributed IT Systems, Internet of Things, IoT, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain Technologies, Quantum & Photonic Technologies, Wireless Systems (6G) and Digital solutions for crisis & disaster management.
Our research field Dependable Systems Engineering (DSE) within the Competence Unit “Security and Communication Technologies” is working on developing methodologies, tools and standards for increasing, verifying and validating the dependability of software and systems – during conception, development, certification and operation. Concretely, we focus on the development of innovative methods for verification, runtime verification and testing of autonomous systems.
Internship “AI-Driven Testing and Optimisation of Cyber Physical Systems”
CENTER FOR DIGITAL SAFETY & SECURITY
- Under the guidance of our interdisciplinary team, you will work on the verification and/or testing of Cyber Physical Systems, including the use of advanced machine learning and concepts from the field of artificial intelligence.
- In collaboration with the team, you will support the development of new solutions for testing, anomaly detection and the automated optimisation of Cyber Physical Systems.
- You will analyse and investigate sensor data and time series for the detection of anomalies and fault sources.
- You will help to implement machine learning and automated optimisation strategies to improve the functionality and reliability of Cyber Physical Systems.
- You will have not only the opportunity to discuss your work experiences and results with experienced scientific peers, but also to connect with other bachelor’s, master’s or PhD students.
Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:
- You are studying in the field of Computer Science, Technical Mathematics, Software Engineering, Data Science & AI, or similar
- You have good programming skills in one or more languages, preferably in Python or R
- You have basic knowledge in the technical aspects of Cyber Physical Systems including sensor data processing, network analysis, and time series analysis
- Experience with the application of machine learning and automation techniques
- Interest in the conception of scientific studies and application-oriented questions of the industry
- Interest to work in a multidisciplinary team and collaborate on different topics
- Good verbal and written English and German skills
What to expect:
- Duration of the internship: minimum 2 months
- Start date: between July and September 2025 – However there is some flexibility concerning the start-date
- A remuneration of EUR 1.415,-- gross per month for 38.5 hours per week. In addition to our company benefits, we offer flexible working conditions and work experience in a highly innovative environment.
