Our Center for Digital Safety & Security located in Vienna invites applications for an internship. Our Competence Unit for Cooperative Digital Technologies is leading in applied research on the development of data-based IT solutions for various application scenarios, including the design of new and innovative solutions supporting communities in increasing their resilience and achieving their sustainable development goals (SDG). As a reliable partner of industry and public authorities, we work on digital tools for a sustainable and resilient society based on current research results and in collaboration with end users and our customers. The focus of our applications is on climate change impact assessment and the protection of society during crises and disasters.

 

Specifically, our Sustainable & Resilient Societyteam focuses on IT concepts and systems for enabling data exchange in different domains. Specific focus is put on IT solutions for crisis & disaster management, and sustainability management in communities & companies:

Internship “Development of a Data Space Demonstrator for Deficiencies”

CENTER FOR DIGITAL SAFETY & SECURITY

  • Under the guidance of our interdisciplinary team, you will support the development of a data space demonstrator for the management of shortages taking into account the following aspects:
    • Enabling interaction between (more than the current two) providers and consumers with different roles
    • Data exchange - Providers should be able to share more complex data sets and define policies ideally via frontend
    • Combination with DKAN - GetDKAN (open source software available on GITHub that already contains extensive ontologies) to share data easily.
  • You will gain practical experience with one of the leading research companies in Austria.
  • You support us in our international project and get exciting insights into our technological environment.
  • You will have not only the opportunity to discuss your work experiences and results with experienced scientific peers, but also to connect with other bachelor’s, master’s or PhD students.

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

  • You already have your Bachelor’s degree and are enrolled in your Master’s studies in the field of computer science/informatics or similar at an Austrian university
  • Programming skills in Phyton (Flaks) and Java, Docker and React would be a plus
  • Analytical thinking and enthusiasm for highly innovative research
  • Interest in the conception of scientific studies and application-oriented questions of the industry
  • Interest to work in a multidisciplinary team and collaborate on different topics
  • Very Good verbal and written English skills (team language is English), German and other language skills would be a plus

 

What to expect:

  • Duration of the internship: minimum 2 months
  • Start date: summer 2025 – However there is some flexibility concerning the start-date
  • A remuneration of EUR 1.415,-- gross per month for 38.5 hours per week. In addition to our company benefits, we offer flexible working conditions and work experience in a highly innovative environment.
