The Center for Vision, Automation & Control is looking for new Ingenious Partner for our location in Vienna (Giefinggasse, 1210). The Center develops key technologies for the intelligent production and automated industry of tomorrow. By combining artificial intelligence, computer vision, industrial inspection, robotics, automation, and control engineering, we create innovative solutions for autonomous, adaptive, and connected technical systems. Together with our partners, we develop technologies that make production and infrastructure systems more efficient, robust, flexible, and sustainable, thereby strengthening Europe’s competitiveness and technological sovereignty.
As part of our Competence Unit High-Performance Vision Systems you will join a multidisciplinary team of scientists, AI experts, electronics specialists, software developers, and project managers, who are enthusiastically researching on improving optical inspection and measurement systems towards higher performance (speed, resolution), robustness and flexibility. We cover the whole data processing chain - from image capture, image processing/computer vision to image content analysis - using both traditional and modern machine learning and AI methods.
Experienced Software Engineer (f/m/d) for Industrial Vision Systems
CENTER FOR VISION, AUTOMATION & CONTROL
- You are the senior technology expert for Software Development, driving innovation, and making strategic technical decisions, that ensure the success of our research and industry projects.
- You develop software that complies with the newest standards regarding software security, especially compliance with the EU’s cyber resilience act.
- You design software architectures for reliable, expandable and maintainable vision systems.
- You select the right approaches to scale our technology from rapid spike development to systems that run around the clock in industrial facilities.
- You advance our software development with a high dedication to quality and a high commitment to well-tested and documented applications.
- You also share your expertise with junior developers, offering strategic guidance in software requirements analysis, system design and structuring modular tasks.
- With your interest in the newest technological developments, you advance our research projects and help establish new business models and concepts in the field of advanced vision systems.
- Driven by a practical-problem solving approach, you develop industrial solutions that excel in performance, reliability and innovation.
Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:
- Completed technical studies (at least MSc.) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field
- At least 5 years of relevant industrial software development experience, with a high level of commitment and proven ability to work in a team, preferably a similar field
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate efficiently with clients and project managers, and to guide a development team
- Strong skills in modern C++ and Python, with solid experience in Git, CMake and Linux environments. Experience with Qt/PySide, C#/.NET, MATLAB, CUDA or HPC is beneficial.
- Experience with software architecture, automated testing, CI/CD, Docker, documentation and secure development practices.
- Experience with AI-assisted development and coding agents for implementation, refactoring, testing, documentation and code review. Ability to critically validate AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance and maintainability.
- Knowledge of sensing and camera technology as well as factory automation of advantage
- Good command of English and German (both required)
What to expect:
- The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38,5 h / week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 68.152,--. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
